Castro Valley, California, is a city located in Alameda County, approximately 20 miles southeast of San Francisco. The city has a population of around 60,000 residents and is known for its beautiful scenery, mild weather, and rich history. Castro Valley was originally inhabited by the Ohlone people, and later became part of the Rancho San Leandro land grant. The city was founded in 1869 by José Castro, a Mexican land grantee, and was named after him. Castro Valley has a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters.
