Michail Wiktorowitsj Popkof, known as the 'Werewolf' and the 'Angarsk Maniac,' is a Russian serial killer and rapist. Between 1992 and 2010, he was involved in the sexual assault and murder of at least 78 women in Siberian cities such as Angarsk, Irkoetsk, and Vladivostok. Convicted in 2015 for 22 murders, he confessed to an additional 59 murders three years later. On December 10, 2018, he was found guilty of 56 of these additional charges. Popkof received a second life sentence, although calls for his execution have arisen, it remains impossible due to the moratorium on the death penalty in Russia.
