Ambat Chacko Jose (1937-2016) was an influential Indian politician from Kerala. He served as the Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly and was a Member of Parliament representing Thrissur and Idukki constituencies. Notably referred to as 'The Always Casting Jose of Kerala' by The Times of India, he played a critical role in saving the K. Karunakaran government by utilizing his casting vote seven times during a crucial period of political deadlock in the assembly. His actions were pivotal in maintaining the balance of power between the United Democratic Front and the Left Democratic Front.
