Ambalal Dahyabhai Patel, known as A.D. Patel, was an Indo-Fijian politician born on March 13, 1905, in Kheda, British India. He became a prominent leader in Fiji, founding the National Federation Party and advocating for the vision of an independent Fiji with complete racial integration. Patel was a proponent of a republic, although this ideal was not realized during his lifetime. He also championed a common voters' roll and opposed communal franchise, which characterized Fijian politics.
