A. Venkatesh Naik was an Indian politician associated with the Indian National Congress for nearly 50 years. He was elected to the 10th Lok Sabha in 1991 representing Raichur constituency in Karnataka and was re-elected in 1998, 1999, and 2004 from the same constituency. In 2013, he secured a seat in the Karnataka legislative assembly from the Devdurga constituency. His political career was cut short when he tragically died in a train accident in Andhra Pradesh on 24 August 2015.
