Aad de Koning was a Dutch speed skater born on December 25, 1928, in Purmerend and passed away on May 29, 2010. He competed in the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, achieving 25th in the 1500m, 23rd in the 500m, and 20th in the 5000m. He placed 14th at the 1951 European Allround Championships in Oslo and had notable success in the Elfstedentocht, finishing second in 1954. His father Jacques was a Dutch champion, and his uncle Coen was a world champion in 1905.
