She was notable for describing the disease known as 'Senior-Løken syndrome'. After graduating from the University of Oslo in 1946, she worked at Rikshospitalet, then pursued neuropathology training in the USA. Løken specialized in neuropathology at Rikshospitalet from 1952 to 1978 and published over 50 articles on the subject.
