Aarno Antero Sihvo was a Finnish lieutenant general who served as the head of the Border Guard from 1978 to 1982. Born on December 30, 1922, in Käkisalmi, he participated in the Winter War and the Continuation War. He attended military academies, including the Maasotakoulu and the British Army Staff College. Sihvo held various positions within the Border Guard, including as commander of several border regiments, before achieving the rank of lieutenant general in 1978. He passed away on January 30, 1991, during a skiing trip in Helsinki.
