Aaron C. Waters (1905-1991) was an American geologist and volcanologist, and a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He developed an interest in geology while growing up on a farm in Washington state, earning his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Washington. After earning his PhD at Yale, he had a long academic career, primarily at Stanford and Johns Hopkins Universities. During WWII, he worked for the US Geological Survey. Waters researched volcanic and petrologic processes and was involved in planetary geology as a NASA consultant.
