Mullett began his career in junior leagues before being drafted 34th in the 2011 AFL Rookie Draft. He debuted in Round 22 of the same year, earning accolades such as an AFL Rising Star nomination and a spot in the 22under22 team. After being delisted, he continued to play locally for the Wandin Bulldogs in 2023.
