Aart van den IJssel (1922-1983) was a notable Dutch sculptor, painter, and draftsman from The Hague. Renowned for his sculptures of animals, particularly insects and birds, he showcased his art in various public spaces throughout The Hague and Voorburg. He was affiliated with the Pulchri Studio and became a member of De Nieuwe Ploeg in his later years. His career highlights include receiving the Jacob Marisprijs in 1961. His final exhibition took place in 1982, accompanied by a biography written by Saskia Gras.
