He became well-known in Hollywood for the term 'Abby Singer,' referring to the second-to-last shot as per the daily call sheet. It is said that he would often reassure crew members that the upcoming shot was the second-to-last one, especially when they showed signs of fatigue, leading them to believe they were near the end of the day.
