Abd al-Qadir al-Aswad, born on April 10, 1948, is a Syrian poet, Sufi, and composer, originally from the town of Armanaz in Idlib Governorate. He graduated from Dar al-Muallimin in Aleppo in 1969 and worked as a teacher before resigning to engage in trade. Influenced by Sufism from a young age, he pursued the Sufi tradition and studied under various sheikhs, which is reflected in his poetry, especially in themes of love. He has published several poetry collections and writings.
