Abd Al-Qadir Al-Qit (1916 - 2002) was a prominent Egyptian poet, critic, and writer born in Belqas, Dakahlia Governorate. He earned a Ph.D. in Arabic literature and literary criticism and served as the editor-in-chief of the magazine 'Poetry' in 1964. Al-Qit became the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University in 1972. He received the King Faisal International Prize in Literature in 1980 and later served as the editor of the magazine 'Creativity' for theater and cinema in 1983. He won the State Appreciation Prize in 1985.
