Abdul Rasheed Hussain, born on September 16, 1946, is a distinguished Maldivian historian, linguist, and poet. He served in various cabinet positions, including Minister of Atolls Administration, Minister of Employment and Labour, and Minister for Higher Education during the Maumoon Abdul Gayoom administration. With a BA (Honours) in Economics from the University of Karachi, he is notable for being the first Maldivian to earn a graduate degree in this field. He also served over two decades in the People's Majlis, including a term as Deputy Speaker. He is now retired and resides in the capital.
