After the fall of the Republic of Mahabad, he left Iran, living in various countries including Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq. He joined the Kurdish movement led by Mullah Mustafa Barzani in September 1961. After the collapse of the Kurdish movement in 1975, he returned to Iran, settling in Karaj until his death on February 21, 1991, when he was buried in his birthplace, Mahabad.
