Abebech Gobena is an Ethiopian businesswoman and philanthropist born in 1938. She founded and currently directs Aghohelma, one of the oldest orphanages in Ethiopia. Known as the 'Mother Teresa of Africa', her early life was shaped by tragedy as her father was killed in the Second Italo-Ethiopian War. She was married at the age of ten but escaped to Addis Ababa, where she received basic education and later worked as a quality control officer.
