Abel Moumé Etia, often referred to by his initials MEA, was a Cameroonian meteorological engineer, high-ranking civil servant, and writer born on April 16, 1919, in Yabassi. He was the first Cameroonian engineer in meteorology and a pioneer in weather forecasting and hydrometeorology in Cameroon. He served as a top official in the national meteorology framework since the French colonial period until the country's independence in 1960. In addition to his engineering career, he was an accomplished author, with notable works including 'Le Foulbé du Nord-Cameroun' published in 1948.
