Abie 'Boogaloo' Ames was a prominent American jazz, blues, and boogie-woogie pianist, born on May 23, 1918, in Mississippi. He began playing piano at age five and became well-known in Detroit's music scene in the 1940s. Ames collaborated with many notable musicians and was a session artist at Motown in the 1960s. Throughout the 1970s, he returned to blues music, performing at festivals nationwide. After his wife's death, he partnered with Eden Brent. They toured extensively and were featured in documentaries before Ames passed away on February 4, 2002.
