Over the years, she chaired the House Committee on Media & Publicity and the House Committee on Diaspora Affairs. Appointed as Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, she later became the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission in 2019. Dabiri-Erewa also supported 'Together Nigeria', an advocacy group for President Buhari's re-election bid.
