Abraham Skernick (June 4, 1923 - December 13, 1996) was an American violist born in Brooklyn. He studied violin under John King Rosa before studying viola with Emmanuel Vardi and Nicholas Moldavan. Skernick served as the associate principal violist of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra from 1946, became principal violist of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 1948, and held the same position with the Cleveland Orchestra until 1976. He was also a music educator at various institutions including the Cleveland Institute of Music and Indiana University.
