Adam Carter is a fictional character from the BBC TV series Spooks, portrayed by Rupert Penry-Jones. He is a former MI6 officer who becomes the chief of Section D, leading the counter-terrorism division of MI5 after Tom Quinn's departure. Created to offer a different dynamic, Adam is depicted as a family man. Unfortunately, he meets a tragic end in series seven due to a car bomb, which was voted the fourth most shocking death in the series. His performance earned Penry-Jones the title of Best Actor at the Crime Thriller Awards.
