Adriaan Bontebal, born Aad van Rijn (1952-2012), was a Dutch poet and writer known for his humor and attention to everyday details. He debuted in 1988 with 'Een goot met uitzicht' and was part of the anarchistic Hague squat movement. Bontebal gained fame through poetry readings across the Netherlands and performances with cabaret artist Sjaak Bral. He worked with VPRO's Music Hall and had poetry included in significant Dutch poetry anthologies. After losing a leg in a motorcycle accident, he continued to thrive in the literary scene with a prosthesis.
