He studied law at the University of Fribourg and joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1977. Evéquoz has served in various capacities, including at the Swiss embassy in Kinshasa and the Swiss mission to the UN in Geneva. From May 2000 to December 2004, he was the head of the Swiss delegation to the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission in Korea, ensuring compliance with the 1953 armistice agreement.
