He held significant governmental roles, serving as Minister of Education, Sports, & Culture since August 2001, and later as the Resident Minister and Governor of Mashonaland East Province. In addition to his political career, he was installed as Headman Svosve Mubayiwa in March 2008. Tragically, he passed away due to COVID-19 complications on January 22, 2021, at his farm near Marondera.
