Afridun Amu is an Afghan surfer born on June 23, 1987, in Kabul. He represented Afghanistan in a surfing world championship, becoming the first Afghan to do so. In 2012, he founded the Wave Riders Association of Afghanistan. Amu won the first official Afghan Surfing Championship for men in Ericeira, Portugal, in 2015, and is the current Afghan Surf Champion. Additionally, he participated in the World Surfing Games in Biarritz, France, in May 2017. Amu also works as a constitutional law expert and lecturer in design thinking.
