Professor Dr. Aftab Ahmed was a Bangladeshi academic who served as the 5th Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Bangladesh. Born on December 31, 1949, in Mirzangan, Noakhali District, he completed his education from Dhaka University, earning his BA and Master's in Political Science. In 1983, he received his PhD from the University of London. Tragically, he was murdered in his home in Dhaka on September 23, 2006, leading to the arrest of influential politician Mofiqul Hasan Tripta in August 2018.
