شهر زاد, born Shafika Mohamed Said on January 8, 1928, in the new Helmyia district of Cairo, was an Egyptian singer. She began her singing career in 1952 with 'Awal Ma Jeet Fi El Mi'ad', composed by Riyad El Sombaty. She also played the role of 'Set El Dar' in the opera 'El Ashra El Tayba' starring Abdel Ghani Sayed in 1947. An accomplished musician, she learned to play the oud from her husband, cellist Mahmoud Ramzi. She passed away on April 6, 2013, in Cairo.
