Ahdaf Soueif (born March 23, 1950) is an Egyptian author, novelist, and political and social analyst, writing in English and residing between Cairo and London. She graduated from Cairo University in 1971 and earned a PhD in 1978. Her notable works include 'In the Eye of the Sun' and 'The Map of Love', the latter being nominated for the Booker Prize. Soueif is recognized for her contributions to literature and has received honorary doctorates from British universities. She has taught at Cairo University and has held the position of Director at Engaged Events in London since 2008.
