Ahmad Jannati, born on February 22, 1927, is an Iranian cleric and politician. He serves as an interim Friday prayer leader in Tehran and was a revolutionary court judge. Jannati is a founding member of the Haqqani School and oversees the Islamic Media Organization. He held membership in the Assembly of Experts before becoming its chairman, and is part of the Expediency Discernment Council and the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. He has been the chairman of the Assembly of Experts since May 24, 2016, and president of the Guardian Council since July 17, 1992.
