Ahmed Arif was a Turkish journalist, writer, author, and poet born on April 21, 1927, in Diyarbakır, Turkey. He passed away from a heart attack on June 2, 1991, in Ankara. His father, Arif Hikmet, was from Kirkuk, and his mother was Kurdish. He studied philosophy at Ankara University. In 1950, he was arrested for political reasons and spent some time in prison until 1952. Arif published his poetry widely in literary magazines, with his notable work being the poetry collection 'Hasretinden Prangalar Eskittim' released in 1968.
