Ahmed Baba Miské was a Mauritanian writer and diplomat, born on May 18, 1935, in Chinguetti, and died on March 14, 2016, in Paris. He was an anti-colonial activist, co-founding the Union of Mauritanian Youth as its Secretary-General while still a student. In 1956, he joined a youth movement that transformed into a political party opposing French colonial rule. Post-independence, he held high-level positions, including ambassador to Ivory Coast and Africa from 1964 to 1966. He was arrested following ethnic events in 1966, later worked in Dakar, and became a university professor in France.
