Ahmed Elkadi was an Egyptian Islamic physician born on August 1, 1940, in Desouk, Egypt. He obtained his degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Graz in Austria before emigrating to the United States. He received American board certification in cardiac and thoracic surgery and served as a professor of surgery at the University of Missouri. Elkadi directed the surgical residency program at Pensacola Hospital in Florida and led the Islamic Institute of Medicine for education and research from 1980 until his death on April 11, 2009.
