Ahmed Ounaies is a Tunisian diplomat and politician, born in Tunis on January 25, 1936. He served as an ambassador in Moscow and New Delhi. After Ben Ali's regime, Ounaies became involved with the opposition. Following the revolution, he was appointed Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs on January 17, 2011, and Minister of Foreign Affairs on January 27, 2011, in the government formed by Mohamed Ghannouchi. He resigned on February 13, 2011, over controversial remarks regarding French Foreign Minister Michèle Alliot-Marie.
