Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, born on July 25, 1972, is the former Yemeni ambassador to the UAE (2013-2015) and the eldest son of former president Ali Abdullah Saleh. He commanded the Yemeni Republican Guard from 2004 to 2012 and the Special Forces from 1999 to 2012. After his father’s presidency, he maintained significant influence within Yemen's military, particularly with the Republican Guard units. He was later sanctioned by the EU in June 2015 for his association with the Houthi rebellion against President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.
