Ahmet Kaya was a Kurdish-Turkish folk singer born on October 28, 1957, in Malatya, Turkey. He identified himself as one of the 'Kurds of Turkey'. After announcing his intention to release an album in his Kurdish language, which was banned in Turkey, he faced political persecution, imprisonment, and ultimately was exiled from his country. Unfortunately, he passed away on November 16, 2000.
