Ahmet Türk is a Turkish politician of Kurdish ethnic origin and a Kurdish nationalist. He was the chairman of the Democratic Society Party until its ban in 2009, which forced him and other party deputies to leave the Turkish parliament and prohibited them from joining political parties for five years. In the 2014 local elections, he was elected mayor of Mardin, supported by the Peoples' Democratic Party. On November 21, 2016, Turkish authorities detained him on charges of terrorism and removed him from his position as mayor.
