Aiko Shimajiri is a Japanese politician born on March 4, 1965, in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. She has been affiliated with various political parties, including the Democratic Party of Japan and the Liberal Democratic Party, currently being part of the Motegi faction. Shimajiri served as a member of the National Diet for Okinawa's 3rd House of Representatives district and was previously an Upper House member from 2007 to 2016. From 2015 to 2016, she held the position of Minister in charge of Okinawa and Northern Territories as well as Science and Technology in the Abe Cabinet.
