Aimar Sørenssen was a Norwegian vice admiral born on April 30, 1905, in Kristiansand, and died on May 23, 1986. He grew up in Kristiania and Horten and graduated from the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy in 1926 and 1928. After World War II, he significantly influenced the development of the Navy as Chief of Personnel Staff and later as Chief of the Navy. He played a key role in establishing the new main naval base Haakonsvern in Bergen.
