Ajay Kumar Parida was an esteemed Indian biologist, renowned for his significant contributions to agriculture, plant molecular biology, and biotechnology. Born on 12 December 1963 in Bhagabanpur, Odisha, he served as the Director of the Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar, and held the Executive Director position at the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation from 2009 to 2017. In recognition of his impact in science and technology, he was honored with the Padma Shri Award in 2014. Parida passed away at the age of 58 on 19 July 2022.
