Akbar Pray, born Wayne B. Pray on March 22, 1948, is an American writer, columnist, and convicted drug kingpin from Newark, New Jersey. He led a narcotics organization known as The Family, which distributed cocaine and marijuana worth millions in Essex County from the 1970s to the late 1980s. The group, comprising over 300 members, also engaged in real estate ventures. Once deemed 'untouchable' by law enforcement, Pray was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole in 1990.
