Åke Lundqvist was a Swedish civil engineer and business leader born on January 6, 1932. He graduated in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in 1956 and worked at Philips before becoming head of mobile radio at SRA. As CEO for SRA from 1977 to 1988, he established Ericsson as a leader in radio communication. He played a crucial role in uniting radio technology with the AXE switching system. After 1988, he headed Ericsson GE Mobile Communications until retirement in 1994. He was later recognized with various honors for his contributions.
