Akejan Kajegeldin (born March 27, 1952) served as the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan until his resignation in October 1997, which was officially attributed to health reasons. However, many believe he resigned in protest against the authoritarian regime in Kazakhstan. He currently heads the Kazakh People's Republican Party and lives in exile in the West.
