Akichika Nomura was a Japanese psychiatrist born on February 28, 1902, in Kochi Prefecture. He moved to Tochigi Prefecture in 1909 and graduated from Tokyo Jikei University School of Medicine in 1928. Nomura worked at Tokyo Imperial University and served as director of Fujisawa Hospital. He obtained his Doctorate in Medicine in 1938, notably researching Morita therapy and editing the magazine 'Shinkei-shitsu'. He became a professor at Tokyo Jikei University in 1957 and retired in 1967. He is also known by the pseudonym Akikika Nomura Shogo.
