Akiko Ishimaru is a Japanese scholar of Japanese literature, born on April 26, 1935, in Fukuoka Prefecture. She is a professor emeritus at Tokai Economics University. Ishimaru graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1965 and continued her studies there, earning a master's degree in 1971 and completing doctoral coursework in 1975. Her research specialty is modern literature, particularly the works of Takuro Arishima. She has authored numerous writings on classical Japanese texts and received the Murasaki Shikibu Literary Prize in 1991 for her work on the 'Legend of Shikishi Imperial Princess'.
