Akira Nishiguchi was a Japanese serial killer and fraudster, born on December 14, 1925. He infamously murdered five people in late 1963, leading to a nationwide manhunt. His killing spree concluded in January 1964 when identified by the daughter of a prospective victim. Convicted and sentenced to death, he was executed in 1970. His crimes significantly influenced Japanese law enforcement, resulting in the establishment of the 'Metropolitan Designated Case' system. Nishiguchi's story also inspired a book by Ryuzo Saki, which was later adapted into the film 'Vengeance Is Mine' in 1979.
