Aelred J. (Al) Kurtenbach, born on January 3, 1934, is an American electrical engineer and founder of Daktronics, Inc. He briefly served in the South Dakota State Senate in 2004. An educator, he held a professorship at South Dakota State University and earned degrees from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, University of Nebraska, and Purdue University. He also participated in various educational and industry boards, including the Brookings School Board and the South Dakota Board of Regents.
