Al Shelton (1920–2016) was a renowned leather artist known as the 'Cowboy Artist to the Stars'. He created custom leatherwork for celebrities like Steve McQueen and Ronald Reagan from his workshop in Los Angeles. His interest in leather crafting began in his teenage years as a cowboy. After refining his craft in various saddle shops, he opened a shop on Ventura Boulevard where he designed bespoke leather goods for the Hollywood elite. In recognition of his contributions to leathercraft, he received the Al Stohlman Award in 2004.
