Alan Frank Beardon (born April 16, 1940) is a British mathematician known for his work in analysis and geometric applications of groups. He completed his Ph.D. at Imperial College London under Walter Hayman and later became a professor of function theory at the University of Cambridge before retiring in 2007. His research focuses on geometric questions in complex analysis, particularly iterations of rational functions and discrete groups of Möbius transformations. He has published textbooks and received awards for his significant contributions to mathematics.
