Alan Cowey was a British scientist born on April 28, 1935. He served as the Emeritus Professor of Physiological Psychology at the University of Oxford, focusing on visual interpretation. Cowey earned a BA and a PhD from the University of Cambridge, being elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1988 and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 1998. He was awarded an honorary DSc by the University of Durham in 2000 and presented the Ferrier Lecture for the Royal Society in 2007. He passed away on December 19, 2012.
